Sheikh-Arsalan Ahmed brings over six years of international legal experience, a strong litigation background, and a practical, client-focused approach to family law.
Arsalan is an Associate Lawyer at Progressive Legal Solutions, where he helps clients navigate separation, divorce, and other challenging family law matters. His approach combines careful legal preparation, strong advocacy, and an understanding of the personal and financial challenges families face during legal disputes.
Before joining PLS, Arsalan developed his Canadian family law experience at a boutique litigation firm in the Greater Toronto Area. He progressed from legal assistant to articling student, gaining hands-on experience in legal research, drafting court documents, preparing appellate materials, and supporting counsel in family and civil litigation proceedings.
His Canadian litigation experience includes assisting with a reported Ontario Superior Court decision, Fahmi v. Shaikh, 2024 ONSC 282. He has also appeared before the Hamilton Small Claims Court, where he argued a contested adjournment.
Prior to establishing his legal career in Canada, Arsalan practised law in Pakistan, handling commercial, corporate, employment, human rights, and family law matters. His experience includes working on litigation involving the High Court and Supreme Court of Pakistan, as well as advising on complex corporate and commercial transactions.
Arsalan holds two Master of Laws degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, specializing in Canadian Common Law and International Business Law. He also earned his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of London International Programmes.
Arsalan is particularly drawn to family law because of its human dimension. He recognizes that legal disputes involving children, relationships, and financial security require more than technical legal knowledge. He believes in balancing strong advocacy with empathy, clear communication, and a focus on constructive, practical resolutions.
Outside the office, Arsalan enjoys connecting with people, discovering new restaurants and coffee spots, and staying active through HIIT, strength training, and pickleball. He also enjoys spending time outdoors and values time with his family and close friends.
