PRINCIPAL LAWYER Evgeniy Osipov
Some people will tell you what you want to hear. Evgeniy Osipov will tell you what you need to know.
As the Principal Lawyer and founder of Progressive Legal Solutions, Evgeniy has practiced exclusively in family law since his call to the Bar. Known for his strategic clarity and genuine commitment to his clients, he brings a rare combination of courtroom fearlessness and personal approachability to one of the most emotionally demanding areas of law. Clients describe him as the most prepared person in the room, someone who tells the truth even when it is hard to hear, and who has the skill and experience to back it up.
Evgeniy’s practice covers the full range of family law matters, with a particular focus on high-complexity property litigation involving high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and clients with sophisticated financial structures. He appears regularly at all levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal, and has developed specialized expertise in Family Responsibility Office (“FRO”) matters. Having articled at FRO and continuing to serve as a panel lawyer, he understands its enforcement powers, its processes, and its limitations from the inside, an advantage that proves decisive for clients who need someone who knows the system, not just the law. His practice also extends to international parenting and child abduction matters.
Not every family lawyer does trial work. Evgeniy regularly accepts referrals from peers and colleagues, reflecting the trial experience he brings to every client he represents. His focus is always on helping clients understand not just where they are, but where they are going and how to get there. He is known for sitting with clients in the courthouse for hours before a hearing, drafting urgent motions while managing an active court schedule, and personally following up to make sure his clients are safe and informed.
That hands-on, human approach informs everything about how he practices: the directness, the lack of ego, and the ability to sit with a client who is too overwhelmed to articulate what they want and wait until they can. The firm he built reflects the same instinct: multilingual, culturally diverse, and grounded in the belief that everyone who walks through the door, regardless of where they come from or what their file looks like, deserves to be genuinely heard.
